@theHeraldTV sometimes it can be difficult to find out what bands sampled what, but other times its very easy. especially if you listen to alot of different types of music. being a musician, its almost a *must* to listen to a variety of styles. i will also add that the samples that were used have been known around the interwebs for? a long time now, being as this song has been out for a long time.

Other useful things I've discovered since: Directional keys in the piano roll to move notes around (also try shift & alt). Holding down Alt will turn off grid snapping while dragging anything. Ctrl-B toggles pencil tool.? Punch-in, loop, and punch-out are useful. Control-L automatically loops a selected area in the sequencer (or "arrangement view"), and in the midi/audio clip editor as well.?

I'm? not sure if I follow. Control-J will consolidate clips. To mixdown tracks, you need to... mixdown... either by rendering, or bussing the tracks to a new audio track (see 4:21 for examples), arming that new track, and recording it.

Personally, when I make a drum kit I find it easiest to put my samples in a drum rack first, then edit and save each of them as a preset in my library using the save button (next to the Hot Swap on the sample's device). For fx and other one-shots I just load them into the Sampler Simpler and do the same from there. The library works like an explorer window so organizing things? is pretty simple too. Hope this answer helps.

Yeah, I have the same trouble too--I can't believe it doesn't map the 8 buttons on the LPD8 to the 8 impulse drum slots by default. And Z/X don't seem to do anything to change octaves when impulse is the active instrument..in fact, Z/X don't seem to affect anything in either impulse or the drum kits. The midi signals go through but dont? trigger the right slots.. Anyone found a way to correct the mapping?

Please help me.... When I have added a sound from ableton to my new akai mpd 32 . I selected drum into my button. And it plaay drums + many times piano. The piano inst in that sound what I ve added. I can hear? the piano all the time when I press that button and before makin that drum sound. How can I get that piano or wtf is that out of it. you need to? adjust which octave you're playing in on your midi keyboard. If only the middle C and up triggers the sounds then you're probably playing the wrong notes. use the "z" and "x" keys to change octaves. I had the same problem and solved it with that, so good luck!

i wish I could help, but I'd honestly have to see what was going on. You may need to go to your sound card preferences and make sure you are assigned to your sound card of choice. Or maybe the output on your track isn't set to master. ?

Yeah, I'm having the same problems that other people mentioned, Ableton registers that the sound is being made, the volume jumps, but no sound actually comes out, unless click the play button which just previews the sound. It even shows up in the arrangement view when I record it, but no sound actually plays. I'm using? a trial edition to see how well Ableton works but this is making it basically unusable.

How do I create a drum rack using just the individual drum sounds taken from the impulse pre-sets? Like for? example a kick drum from 'studio montreal' and a snare from 'ballad' etc. I can only drag the whole kit into an empty rack instead of the seperate sounds.

I can't figure out if this is really that difficult or not. If you think about it, there are two skills involved to the performance aspect of this: rhythm, and knowing which buttons to hit. Assuming? you have the rhythm, which many people do, the memorizing part seems like it's basically just muscle memory, like with videogames or other instruments. Seems like an average guitar solo would have more complexity than this. But maybe I'm wrong? Never attempted something like this by hand.

It's not your fault, a lot of people lack the talent to explain things thoroughly. The test of any good tutorial video is whether it can be understood by both pros and beginners. You shouldn't post "how to" videos if you're gonna make the mistake of assuming people know the details of ableton already. There is a formula to warping, it could easily be explained in a few basic, repeatable steps, but you've? completely failed to make things clear.

Is it really a fail on our part? In 4 years of? making videos, this is the first time I've gotten a comment like this. To understand warping better, the ableton manual is freely available on their site & it's written quite well. Warping is the ability to put parts of your song that are off time, back in time with a specific tempo, then allowing you to change the tempo of your project and have all your audio follow perfectly.

Try setting the first bar and then right click and set 1.1 at that part. Then warp straight from there. You will save everyone watching this a ton of time. But hey? @innerstatejt I have a seriously strange issue. I have the Macbook pro 2011 15" 2.2 quadcore i7. When i play my project now which has become really huge with effects and instruments etc. It laggs reasonable much to make it anoyying. The sound when playing the project sounds perfect. No scratches or glitches. But? the graphic UI is laggy. And the most strange thing of them all. My CPU processing is under 15%. Im thinking i have some setting that won't let my cpu use it's full potential.

What about if you midi assign Set Loop Position and Set Loop Length to whatever apc or your computer keyboard for example "a" and "s" and also assign? a button for the global Quantization "d" and set it up to 1 bar. Because if you double press the quantization button twice is start creating the beat repeat effect. This works for me.

Think of it kinda like you would a "punch in/out". typically you start playing that part a couple bars? before you start recording and keep playing a bit after you stop the loop. This ensures the loop doesn't have an abrupt start or end and will sound more seamless.

Think of it as a start/stop type thing. Trigger once? to start the recording, click again to stop on the nearest bar, then it will automatically loop. So you basically choose the length on the fly. Just make sure it's 1, 2, 4,8 or 16 bars etc. a 3 bar loop might sound on time with the beat, but off from the timing of the song (unless thats what you are going for).

so i? would assume you are attempting to have ableton recognize the keyboard to record midi. make sure you check your midi preferences and click everything to "on"after you have picked the correct midi driver. this should help.

ok, what you need to do is assign i new key or button to each track. then basically you can hit the key once to start then a second time to stop (set it to? bar and it will make a perfect loop), then hit the next key for the next track etc.. hope that helps.

in my case i have assigned the clips to start with a note on my ozone controller keyboard. Hit it once and it records? or the next bar, hit it again and it'll end on the next closest bar. Each clip in each track will require a seperate key (you can also use a key on the keyboard you type on). hope that helps.

nice work but i need a little help with my rack. i'd like to make a? knob eq where it's flat at 12 oclock. if you turn it clockwise, the low freqs will get removed. if you turn it counter-clockwise the high freqs get removed. this is how the filter effect works in torq and it's convenient for say the nanokontrol which has one knob per channel. thanks

iirc, those asd files are the analysis files that live uses to store the information about that particular audio file, including warping info. you want to hang? on to those as it saves live a lot of time by not re-learning all the info about that file every time you want to use it

If you get external? drive, make sure you use Firewire or eSATA interface. Using USB is not good idea since it utilizes your CPU and the real transfer speeds are way below even 5400rpm drive (expect ~30-40 MB/s max).

Thanks for your reply. That is odd, though. I can't move mine. It is stuck on my C drive, and won't let me move it. But, I did figure a way around it. I just convert my mp3's to .wav before I load them into Ableton. No need? for the cache folder, and my sets load up very quickly. Thanks again!!
