I can tell you what happened: A car hit a dog and the dog hid in the shrubbery, as most dogs do if they are hurt? and frightened out of their mind. Then the poor dog died there and the rats, crows and other animals had their way with the corpse. I had to bury a dog once which was found in the bushes of our back garden. It is not a nice look, and the smell is horrid, but there is no reason to believe some "abominable" creature has killed the dog. Urban traffic is abominable enough to do that. :)

Nothing to worry about Clapham Junction. OK its a big station, but its platfroms are nothing like this. Nowadays only Clapham Common and Clapham South have these narrow platforms. Angel and Euston (Bank branch) used to have them but they have been? rebuilt and nowadays have much wider platforms. All four stations were once termini, and this may explain why they were built in this way. Hope this helps, Simon
