You will not do boot camp, OCS is what officers go through and it has a different purpose than enlisted boot camp.? OCS evaluates your potential to be an officer. You can try for an aviation contract or law contract, but they take more screening and have different requirements.

yes, here in the active duty air force it does, plus u get free tuition assistance. get your bachelors before enlisting or commissioning if u don't already have it, i highly recommend it.....and if u can finish a masters go for it while? u can, u won't be able to do much schooling in the service depending on your job...also u can tap into your g.i. bill on your 3rd year of service if u want, if u plan on still serving for a while. Marine OCS looks like amazing training, go for it

no if you want to do medical? you have to go through Navy and become a Corpsman..you then get deployed with Marines but you wont be a Marine you'll be a Navy Corpsman and you wont be put in 0311 (Infantry) where ever they need you they will place you

Marines have medics, they're called Corpsmen. And no, you can't join the Marines and become a Corpsman, you have to enlist in the Navy since Corpsmen are Navy personnel. Whether you become a Hospital Corpsman or you get attached to a Marine infantry unit is partially dependent on luck, meaning where they decide to place? you.

They are the most disciplined, most dedicated, most motivated, most intense, most militant of all the branches. Thats 4km total plus? some obstacles is combat gear. Its really not that hard. In the US Marine Corps we have the endurace course, which is about 6km which consists of O Course you see above, a 2-3 mile run, then a few other obstacles followed by a 1 mile run to the finish, in combat gear as well. Thats harder then what you just named.

No sir.I finished everything (MEPS, application, etc) But I did not score high enough on the ASVAB, I only scored average. So, since it was already the deadline I did not have enough time to re-take the test meaning that I cannot go until May 2012. It's a bummer, but i'll see it as an extra year to better myself before going. My cross-country coach is happy though ha ha, he? didn't like the idea of me going to OCS durning summer conditioning.

I felt like I could react to a given situation well enough to handle the leadership challange? and I scored well on leadership when I went. As long as you're confident and have a good head on your shoulders, you'll be fine. They screen for leadership potential. They don't expect candidates to be perfect leaders and tactitians right off the bat, just that they have what it takes to develop into a good leader.

i'm truly sorry for your loss, my father served in the corps as well and he's who inspires me to join. i'm glad to hear the VA gave him an amazing memorial service, the VA has been outrageously great? to my father as well. thanks to all who served, past, present and future, there are those out there who aren't grateful for the things our fathers did, and its a saddening thought. oorah, semper fi!

My dad passed away 9-14-2010 and served honorably in USMC from 1951-53 (Korea) and in reserves after that. The VA gave him one hell of a memorial service with a Marine corporal delivering the flag.? I definitely can relate to the honor in the USMC. May both our dads RIP.

things were different in Jan. 42 My father enlisted was sent to san diego for 6 weeks recruit training then sent to indian island, Wa. for 4 months signal corp training, then to new zealand then to Bouganville/Guam adn Iwo Jima. In 46 he went to college on G.I. bill then raised a family. He was a? Marine until the day he died. But he made me shine his shoes Saturday night before church!...LOL The marines today look strong and ready to go. Good chow and GOD. Semper fi marines. RIP Dad.

CPO Morales was in the first group of enlisted Navy trainers to teach at Navy OCS after its merger with AOCS which only had enlisted Marines. Unfortunately it took four years for the Navy with the help of MGYSGT Holtry to redefine the role of the Navy enlisted trainer. The role became one of mentorship for the Navy officers just like they will do in the fleet, leaving military indoctrination to the Marines as it should be. Every Marine has served at least? one tour training recruits first.

Ok, but if you've ever had to maintain them, they're like old chevys. You absolutely have to do the maintenance or they get cranky really fast. Especially when it's hot and they? decide to lose their coolant. They're loud too. I really do like the P 40, 42 better. It's much quieter but not good if you're on track gang because they're on you before you know it. They're smoother and I love the cruise control. it's nice climbing the passes faster than 30 mph, stuck in 8.

Wonderful K5LA horns. Don't know why but there's something really special about a clean, good working K5 on an F40. They just don't sound the same on the 500? series 32BWH or P 40, 42 series, although those aren't bad either. Great video. Thanks.

- No,? it's office car. We called 'em business cars. It's a nicely appointed passenger type car with amenities for railroad big-shots to tour the routes. They often will take along big customers to see where their freight is going. As an Operator, I had to clear the rails of freight trains far in advance of an Amtrak train. Turns out there was a special car in the train with the Amtrak President's wife aboard. She apparently didn't want to see commoners along the way.

If you're referring to the Drum and Bugle Corps, you may laugh now but when you see them in person, you will be in awe of the precision and talent of the men and women. Also, it is very humbling to see the formality of the ceremony. My son also graduated this day. It was very emotional. Now that I know more of what it took to get to graduation and what our candidates? went through, I am one very proud Marine Mom. Kudos to the person who shot this video-it brought back some great memories!

To be a DI at any college ROTC program (AMOI Program) or Navy OCS you must have a successful tour training enlisted recruits at either MCRD. I am a Director of Facilities overseeing construction, maintenance, landscaping, security and? environmental services for a hospital. It is an excellent career choice and one that suites me perfectly. As for nothing compares, well I have been very fortunate to have had several exciting career choices in life and love this one too.

Warrior, thanks for the comments. Navy OCS closed down Pensacola in? the summer of 2007 and relocated to Newport RI. Huge mistake from a training standpoint. Close order drill and good weather is paramount to developing the ultimate Warrior. Develop the discipline first, then you can make them miserable in cold weather.

thanks a lot? for the insight. amazing command voice btw, i had dreams of becoming a D.I. one day, wish i could commission and be a D.I., that's be the perfect career. anyway, is it really true the Marines prepare you for career once you leave the Corps? Many graduates of Navy OCS felt cheated when they did not find that consistent professionalism of the OCS experience and specifically the competence and leadership of the Marine DI's was not representative of the typical senior enlisted. All of the officers I trained have said they enjoyed their Navy career but I assure you, if you join the Marine Corps you will be forever proud? of the fact that Marines enforce standards that other services wish for but do not mandate.

There are leaderships schools for CPL's, SGT's, SSGT's and GYSGT's. As for a distaste for everything, not sure what you are speaking of there. GSst, this officer candidate has a question. When you get promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, do you have to go to a specific school for that rank like Corporal's Course or Staff NCO school??
